About

Overview

The Spotted Reef Crab, often called the "seven-eleven crab," is a large, robust crustacean easily identified by the eleven distinct red spots on its smooth, cream-colored carapace. Primarily nocturnal, this species spends its daylight hours hiding in deep reef crevices or under rocks to avoid predators, emerging at night to forage across the ocean floor.
